Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster Base Plate on a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Now this is what your base plate is gonna look like when installed on your Wrangler and overall it's a pretty clean look. You really only see the safety chain loops and the receptacles for the arms kind of going through our skid plate here. It also comes with a really nice bracket that allows us to bolt up our 6-pole as well as our breakaway switch. So overall, a pretty clean look. more

Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 GMC Terrain- Video
Well neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Base Plate on a 2016 GMC Terrain. Now in flat towing your Terrain, there's gonna be five main components required for flat towing and the first one's gonna be a base plate, and that's gonna be the attachment point for all of your components, and it's attached to the frame of the vehicle, creating a nice sturdy mounting point. Going along with that, you have safety chains, which are in case of a disconnect, it's gonna hold everything together and that way the car's not getting disconnected. Now between your base plate and the hitch on the RV, you are gonna have your tow bar and that is simply that connection point that allows it to pivot as you're going down the road. Now you're also gonna have a supplemental braking system and that way when you apply the brakes on the RV, it's gonna transmit to the towed vehicle, bringing it to a slow or stop, and also you have a breakaway cable with that, and that way in case of a catastrophic disconnect, it's gonna pull this switch here, applying the brakes on the vehicle, bringing it to a stop. That way it's not rolling down the highway. more

And there are five required components for flat towing your Jeep and the first one is going to be the base plate. That attaches to the frame in the vehicle and creates a structural mounting point for the rest of your components but also it's the connection point for our tow bar. And the tow bar is simply the connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV, so it's actually what's towing the vehicle. You also have safety cables just as you would a trailer, and that's just in case of an accidental disconnect, it's gonna hold everything together. You also have your braking system breakaway switch, so in case of a unlikely but catastrophic disconnect, it's gonna pull the cable, putting the brakes on the vehicle, bringing it to a slow or stop. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Base Plate on a 2019 Ford Fiesta. Now this is what your base plate is gonna look like when it's installed and they've done a pretty good job of keeping this in the lower grill so you're not having to drill out the fascia. You're gonna have to trim some of this, but it does fit nicely here. So we have our spot for our removable arms, our safety chain moves come out just enough without being too intrusive. And we also have a mounting point for our six pole diode wiring. Now the breakaway switch for our braking system, I did have to self tap, but I'm tapping that into the base plate. more

So let's take a closer look at what you need to be able to flat tow down the road like this. Of course, you're gonna need your base plate and that's gonna be the physical connection that's actually on your vehicle, and this is what we hook up to, it's gonna allow you to start flat towing. You also are going to need diode wiring. Basically, your trailer light wiring, this is gonna be coming from your RV and it's gonna transmit the signals to the back of your car for all of the functions that you need. more

Your base plate is gonna be one of five main components required for flat towing a vehicle. It also has the hookup points for some of the other components. So let's go through those. The first one is going to be the base plate, which attaches to the frame of the vehicle creating a mounting point for your tow bar to attach. Now these parts here will let you use your motor home mounted Blue Ox Tow bar to tow your vehicle that has an off-road bumper with the welded on or bolted on D-rings and is rated for flat towing. This will work with the Blue Ox Aladdin, the Alpha, the Ascent, the Avail, and the Aventa LX tow bars. Now if the vehicle you wanna flat tow has an off-road bumper on it, there's usually no place to install base plates for your tow board to connect to. more
